Weekend Recap: Happy Birthday, Brother!

OK, let's work backwards. Well, first forwards and then backwards. You'll see...

This past week was my brother's birthday. He turned 27. My BABY brother turned 27. Old = Me.
I decorated the cake with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I was pretty happy with how it came out. Although later, I learned that decorated whipped cream is not the best idea. The moisture content caused all the icing to bleed really badly and basically liquefied the fondant. Oh well, it looked good long enough to snap this photo.
But enough of that drama. Since his birthday fell on a Tuesday and his wife was out of town on a work trip, it was not possible to celebrate together as a family. My parents went up to College Station to spend the day with my brother, so that he wouldn't be alone on his actual day. And then this past Sunday (yesterday) we all went to College Station and his wife was back in town, so we could celebrate together, properly. We celebrated with tacos, tres leches cake, and The Simpsons. Perfection.
Me, Paul, Amanda, Johann, and the gifts.
I gave Paul this Texas armadillo card. We love armadillos!
And two seasons of The Simpsons. We also love this.
Johann and his gingerbread man at the birthday celebration.
Saturday night I went to see CS Lewis' The Great Divorce in play form. It was done by the same production company that does The Screwtape Letters (which I saw a couple of years ago) and it was very well done. Also, our seats were fantastic. We were in the orchestra pit; I had never been so close to a performance!

Earlier on Saturday all the women in my mom's side of the family had lunch at a cute tea room in Pearland.
Here is my lunch.
I also messed with the animals over the weekend. What else is new? Johann was staying with us over the past week. Saturday afternoon I tried to get him to cuddle with me on the couch. Instead, he decided to use my shoulder and face as a prop for his furry behind. Thanks. a. lot.

And then I spent a good portion of the afternoon trying to get the cat to look at the camera while I photographed her. Clearly, I was never successful. Moments after this she swatted at me and bit me. I'm not sure why she dislikes me so much. Evil cat.
Diablo.
