Too Many Books

I've always wished I was one of those people who could just pick one book up at a time, read it, cover to cover, put it down, and then pick up another book and start the process over again. But I am not. I always have at least 2 books going at once.

Right now I'm at an all-time low; I'm simultaneously reading SIX books right now. Just look to the right and you will see my current selections. Is it even possible to truly engage yourself in that many books at once? When I start reading this many books at once I see it as a sign that none of them truly, passionately interest me. I'll admit I've read one of them before (many times) and one of them I think is one of the worst books I've ever read (thank you Mrs. Patterson). When a book really interests me I will read it cover to cover in a matter of a few days.

I guess I'm just impatient. When I find a new book I think looks interesting, I don't want to wait to read it, I want to read it now. It's not a good system though. Don't try it. It's pretty much impossible to read 6 books NOW. And what's worse, while I've been "reading" these 6 books I've also skimmed the entirety of another book and read the first 3 chapters (online) of yet another book, that I now really want to buy and read (now!).

I'm not sure I'll ever be cured of this. Or that I really even want to be. And I know I'm not the only one who does this. There are other multi-book readers out there that know exactly what I'm talking about.
